Psychodynamic Therapy

We all have moments where we stop and ask ourselves things like , “why am I responding like this?”, “this isn’t that big a deal, why am I so angry?”, or “why am I crying?”. Often our responses in the present day come from moments we’ve experienced in our past. This style of therapy focuses on why you do what you do and creates insight into those behaviors that seem confusing. With insight, you can then decide how to change your responses in the future and give yourself grace for understanding where you’re at and why.

EMDR

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. This style of therapy is useful for working through traumatic memories that are still affecting you today. You and your therapist will determine which targets, or moments in the past, you would like to process and then work through these systematically. The goal of this therapy is to reduce the level of arousal you feel with the things that trigger you so that you can be more present minded, focused, and engaged with those around you.

CBT

CBT stands for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. The way we think about a situation will change how we feel and how we want to respond in any given moment. By altering the way we think about ourselves and the world around us, we can positively affect our mood, our relationships, and ultimately our future.

Grief Counseling

Loss can be devastating. It can feel like you’re falling into a deep, deep darkness that you’ll never climb out of. When you lose someone or something you love, life begins to feel meaningless and you can start to question why you’re still here. In one fell swoop, life has turned on its head and you’re standing in the shattered remains of what once was. Grief counseling focuses on learning how to live with what has happened, making sense of your circumstances, and making sure you don’t have to go through it alone. From the practical things like cancelling cell phone plans and making career changes to the big issues of raising children and understanding the world, you’ll have space to work through each of these issues with your therapist.
